Standing Up Together Training at St. George's

SAHC will be co-sponsoring a transformative community training, focused on how we can stand up for, support, and defend, if necessary, those who are targeted and are facing potential violence, based on their identity. This will include those who are at risk in today's climate due to their sexuality, gender, immigration status, nationality, race, religion, or other factors that are used as wedges to divide and exclude. By contrast, this training is designed to look at how we can look out for one another in the near term - and ultimately work to build the Beloved Community.

A trainer from the Center for Anti-Violence Education in Brooklyn, who grew up in Maplewood, will be leading this two-part training. A one-page summary of the training is here:  Skills for Standing Up Together. This is a two-part training, to be held in person at St. George's on the Sundays of September 28th 12:30-4pm and October 12th from 12:30-3pm. We are coordinating with representatives from Temple Sharey-Tefilo Israel, SOMA Action and other houses of worship.
