Our Purpose

Faith and Spirituality

Central to all of us is our Faith and Spiritual Lives. Since we are diverse, how we express our faith varies from individual to individual. Some of us share our faith lives with others in small groups. Others join in educational groups which focus on learning about faith.

Diversity

Our church is a diversity-oriented, multicultural group, intentional about deconstructing socially divided people with the message of gospel. Our mission is the formation of one body out of many people that are racially, culturally and socio-economically different.

Community

Everyone enjoys gathering together in community, talking and laughing with each other. It doesn’t matter whether it is at Coffee Hour after the Sunday Service, when helping at fundraising events, or when serving food at the soup kitchen. People at SAHC are known for the food they prepare: especially BBQ or Ethnic Foods, or as some would exclaim, desserts.

Outreach

We have a number of ongoing outreach efforts, including food pantry assistance, ESL classes, support for a women’s shelter, and more. Right now, we are thinking of finding ways to expand our outreach more into the local community. For a detailed list of what we now do, click here.

About us

With a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice, we collaborate with God in the mission of Jesus, providing spiritual growth, service, and advocacy for the marginalized while fostering healing and care. We proudly ordained women to the priesthood and openly gay clergy, and our ministry extends beyond borders, engaging in missions worldwide.
